Many Jobs Require Ongoing Education
With some jobs it is just plain obvious that you would need to have regular continuing education. Like if you were a surgeon whose job it is to literally cut into living people. You would want to know that your surgeon was taught how to use all of that fancy equipment that fills up a modern hospital! And while that is probably the most extreme example, many professions require ongoing education. Some of these are not as obvious as the surgeon example.
Just about anything that requires a license is going to require continuing education. Lawyers need to stay current with the laws, so they are required to go through ongoing education. Realtors are the same way too. Look at all the changes we have seen in the real estate industry lately. That would be a hard industry to keep up with. Even general contractors need to prove that they have obtained continuing education. Building codes and techniques are constantly changing, so contractors need to keep up.
And the list goes on and on. Airline pilots, computer techs, A/C repairmen, and even bartenders need to keep current. Did I say bartenders? That’s right! At least where I live bartenders need to go through an alcohol awareness class every couple of years!

Yes, even bartenders need to upgrade their certifications. Specifically its the alcohol management portion of the program. Certification is often a requirement by state and jurisdiction. Responsible managers like the programs. They help train a staff to handle three recurrant problems: underage drinkers, people drinking too much, and people who because of drinking too much might create a problem.
Our DC school recertifies grads all the time. Our Pittsburgh school is the only bartending school in Pennsylvania that includes the state suggested alcohol management program R.A.M.P and a national program.
